Cllrs John Sheard, Mark Thompsons and Liz Smaje unvail road safety proposals on Windmill Lane

Windmill Lane is a narrow traffic-clogged street during school hours. Residents and bus services are finding it increasingly difficult to drive along the street and it is becoming a great risk to the safety of schoolchildren. So, councillors in Birstall & Birkenshaw are taking action. Fresh yellow lines being painted, plans for new traffic regulations, greater traffic enforcement and a crossing patrol all form part of our plan to make sure we tackle this issue and keep our children safe travelling to school.

Cllr Smaje said

We are continuing to be in contact with both schools and the Kirklees highways department to ensure a resolution to this very present problem is delivered as quickly as possible. Our priority will always be to ensure school children are safe travelling to and from school.
