Cllr Richard Smith helping residents with passport woes

Councillor Richard Smith was contacted by a resident who was worried about her upcoming holiday with her family, because her passport application had been delayed and she was unable to get a helpful response from the Passport Office.

Speaking to his constituent, Cllr Smith remembered a similar experience a couple of years ago and his own problem in getting the passport office to find his own son's application.

Because Cllr Smith has a close relationship with MP for Dewsbury Mark Eastwood, he escalated this to him to see if this was an issue that he could assist with.

I was quite worried that I wouldn't be able to do anything to help this lady, but when I spoke to Mark, he informed me of the recently installed Parliamentary Passport Hub.

Mark's assistant at Westminster managed to locate the specific application at the passport office almost immediately and it arrived in Kirkburton within 2 days.

I would advise anyone with a similar issue to contact me as we can help.
