Kirklees Labour leadership shows contempt for the electorate in 'that's where all the rich folk live' jibe

At the full Council meeting last week, Cllr Michael Watson (Denby Dale) asked why his letter from 29th February 2022 has yet to receive a reply.

In attempting to explain the delay, Cabinet member for the Environment Cllr Mather said 'Of course Denby Dale matters, that's where all the rich folk live.'

This astonishing reply highlights yet again, why the failing Labour administration do not take the welfare and safety of the entire borough seriously.

Commenting, Cllr Watson said;

One of the issues most regularly raised with Conservative councillors in Denby Dale Ward is the condition of the roads.

In February 2022, I wrote a very detailed letter addressing these concerns and making a number of positive suggestions as to how the council could improve the condition and safety of a number of roads in Denby Dale ward including;

  • Park Lane, Rowgate, Heator Lane (Upper Cumberworth),
  • Garden Terrace (Denby Dale),
  • Stringer House Lane (empley) and
  • Busker Lane (Skelmanthorpe).

Having seen no action in reply to those suggestions, Cllr Bamford and I raised the issue with the leader of the council at the Council meeting in November.
