Kirklees Councillor for Birstall and Birkenshaw Ward

Mark started his first business at the tender age of 15 in Keighley West Yorkshire and after 6 years found himself as a Director of the first chain of health clubs in the UK.

A follower and somewhat of an expert in nutrition, an author, public speaker and business owner, Mark still has time for family and community.

Throughout his career he found himself moving into sales and sales director roles with leadership and presentation skills as his main assets.

His eventual entry into the world of telecommunications has led him into a 20-year career in one of the most competitive markets in the world and has successfully steered many companies to success.

In his short but eventful move into local politics, Mark has managed to use his skills to help his well-loved local area and community, re-elected in 2021 his ambition is to do whatever it takes to make his ward shine within Kirklees.

Mark serves on the board of trustees for the KAL (Kirklees Active Leisure), the PCC (Police and Crime Commission) and more locally on the Birstall youth project.

Mark's mantra is to leave everything in a better place than you found it

Birstall & Birkenshaw Councillors broker meetings to keep kids safe on Birstall street

Thursday, 24 March, 2022
Windmill Lane is a narrow traffic-clogged street during school hours. Residents and bus services are finding it increasingly difficult to drive along the street and it is becoming a great risk to the safety of schoolchildren. So, councillors in Birstall & Birkenshaw are taking action. Fresh yellow lines being painted, plans for new traffic regulations, greater traffic enforcement and a crossing patrol all form part of our plan to make sure we tackle this issue and keep our children safe travelling to school.
